I read all the reviews just before I tried this item. I am fairly concerned and picky shopper. I believed I would give this a attempt. I believe the key to this product is the flooring you are using this on. The foot on the lock operates fantastic on title or wood. I would not suggest this product on carpet.
A single key point to don't forget...the farther away you have the base from the door the much less strength it has. Attempt to get it amongst 70 degrees and 80 degrees. I was able to knock it out of spot at 50 and 60. I generally do not be concerned about safety having said that, I am a heavy sleeper. I can fend for myself but I have to hear it initially. Let me know if you located this useful!
The device does what is suppose to. If somebody wanted to break in the front door of our apartment they would have to kick it down... and we would essentially hear it.
We had been way more afraid of somebody "sneaking" in the spot, rather than breaking in.
When it is stretched out to the fullest it appears a tiny flimsy.
An Added bonus is that it also operates as a door stopper to hold the front door open.
