Buyer Critiques
Ordered the item to use even though traveling, for extra security in hotel rooms. I chose it over some of the other equivalent alarm door stops due to the fact the alarm sensitivity is adjustable and it has an on/off switch. I haven't made use of it in a hotel area but but I tested it in my dwelling. It seems to work awesome. The alarm is Extremely loud! It operates very nicely as a door jam making it incredibly challenging to open the door. It jammed the door on hardwood floors and carpeted floors, but so-so on my tile floors which are kinda smooth. The alarm feature worked really nicely in all instances. I had to enhance the sensivity to high with the tile floors.
General I think this is a terrific affordable dwelling and travel safety item. I program to acquire a couple more to give as presents to a couple of female family members members who reside alone and do not have a dwelling safety system. The superb factor about this item is that it not only sounds an alarm but it also stops the intruder from entering the room.
The only weaknesses of the product are that it may perhaps not work as a door jam if you have incredibly smooth tile floors or if the bottom of your door is especially high off the floor. The alarm will most likely perform in both these situations, if you set the sensitivity on med or high. If your tile floors have some texture, it should certainly perform fine.
I picked this one rather of the other GE item because this one also jams the door from opening.

2. The high sensitivity setting oftentimes causes it to trigger when I am placing it on the floor immediately after turning it on. (These things are tiny tricky to turn on though on the floor)

Update - Jan 2012:
Right after 1.5 years, this point is still working like new, and I turn it off(morning) and on(night) about five days a week. I purchased another equivalent, but a tiny numerous doorstop alarm from Amazon.
