I have read all the security testimonials on Amazon from all the numerous security MFG's. Skylink, GE, Bulldog Security and so on. I was impressed that the testimonials on this product did not mention something about poor good quality, poor range etc. I 1st named the AAS security people today and was impressed that more than the phone they could answer all my concerns. I would like to let you know that the primary programmer/ auto dialer is the identical on all their units from AAS100 to AAS600 systems. The only difference is the quantity of door sensors, motion detectors, sirens etc etc. They have so many extra add on's for their security program it is unbelievable, such as remote wireless sirens, smoke detectors, gas detectors, water detectors and extra and alot more. So I ordered a custom unit from them: 1 main programmer/dialer, 1 remote siren and three motion detectors and 2 remote crucial pods. I setup the process on my kitchen table in about 1/two an hour. The siren is loud, due to the fact I bought the separate wireless siren unit it can be placed anywhere you have an AC outlet. The motion detectors function beautiful. Not too sensitive but work at long distances. I put a single on the motion detectors in my den and it looks into my kitchen and will detect you if you walk at the end of the kitchen 40ft away.The most important programmer has built in battery backup. I have a 3000 sq ft residence and I don't know where to put the 3rd detector, the other 2 detectors cover my whole very first floor. I've only had it for a week but I am impressed. You have the potential to dial into this program and listen to what is happening, works with my blackberry cellphone. The system is amazing. No challenges. I use VOIP Vonage for my residence phone and it works amazing on out going alerts from the AAS 100 security process, but on incoming calls the Vonage answering service will answer and I can not dial into the AAS 100. SO....I purchased the VOIP Grandstream Handystream 286 adapter from Amazon went to CallCentric and signed up for their VOIP phone . Its great for a alarm program considering that it will dial out and I can now call in to my alarm. Expense? $1.95 per month. Terrific! If anybody finds a superior VOIP supply let me know!
Second update:
Discovered out my dog can set off the motion detectors. No difficulty, raised the pointing angle and now my pug does not set off the alarm. My wife and I set it just about every time we go out. Even with the dog at residence. Enjoy this process.
Third update Feb 2011:
Technique nevertheless working outstanding. Had to replace the 9V batteries for two of the motion detectors, so I would say they last about 6 months. I replaced the batteries on all the units anyway. Uncomplicated to do, and I did not have to reprogram any of them. Amazon has some amazing deals on 9V Alkaline batteries. I also dropped my VOIP CallCentric and I just use the Vonage VOIP. No require for two systems, I never ever had to dial into the security program, no false alarms!
